How we run
Our u3a is organised by volunteers who give their time to make our organisation work and grow. Without these volunteers there would be no Weymouth & Portland u3a and we are very grateful for the time they give.
Volunteer Roles
Volunteers range from serving on the committee as an officer or a committee member with specific responsibilities, to being a group leader, helping with refreshments at the monthly meetings, or being a greeter for new members at events and many more roles.
We need VOLUNTEERS
We constantly need volunteers to fill these essential roles so joining the committee as a member is an excellent way to find out about the roles and then prepare and move into one of the officer roles.
It can be challenging finding volunteers to fill these roles and the ideal is to have plenty of volunteers on the committee ready to move into these vital roles.
COMMITTEE OFFICER ROLES
Did you know that the officers on the committee can only server for a specific period?
All members of the committee are trustees of the u3a Charity.
Chair
serves a ONE-year term of office and may serve not more than TWO consecutive terms as chairman.
Vice Chair
serves a ONE-year term of office and may serve not more than FOUR terms in any one role.
Secretary
serves a ONE-year term of office and may serve not more than FOUR terms in any one role.
Treasurer
serves a ONE-year term of office and may serve not more than FOUR terms in any one role.
COMMITTEE & OTHER VOLUNTEER ROLES
The following roles serve a ONE-year term of office on the committee and retire at the AGM. They can be re-appointed with no maximum number of terms.
Membership Secretary
serves a ONE-year term of office on the committee and retires at the AGM. They can be re-appointed with no maximum number of terms.
Groups Coordinator
serves a ONE-year term of office on the committee and retires at the AGM. They can be re-appointed with no maximum number of terms.
Committee Member
serves a ONE-year term of office on the committee and retires at the AGM. They can be re-appointed with no maximum number of terms.
OTHER ROLES
The following are other roles our volunteers cover and they may or may not serve on the committee. They will be in post as long as required or are prepared to serve

We need more committee members/volunteers to ensure we can replace retiring officers when their term is up and to cover all the roles above.
